Essência do Vinho Lisboa (Pt: The Essence of Wine) is the most important and largest wine event in Lisbon. During the event at the Junqueira Congress Center, you can taste wines from dozens of Portuguese vineyards. Other attractions include commented tastings and talks with sommeliers. You don’t have to be an expert to participate in the event. It is all about having fun and getting to know the wine culture of Portugal. If you are looking for extraordinary attractions in Lisbon, which are not mentioned in the guides, I strongly encourage you to participate in the event Essência do Vinho Lisboa.
The 2022 edition of the event saw an increase in the number of visitors, among consumers and professionals, by 33% compared to the previous edition.
How the wine tasting works?
You don’t have to be a wine connoisseur to participate in the Essência do Vinho event. All wine lovers are welcome. You just need to buy a ticket and the exhibitors will take care of the rest. Essência do Vinho is a paradise for enophiles. It is worth purchasing tickets in advance. This can be done on the website or purchased locally (more expensive). At the entrance to the event, after presenting the ticket, you get a tasting glass with which you can approach each stand and ask to try the wines they have. You can try as many times as you like. Go ahead! Most of the exhibitors speak English and are very excited about the interest in Portugal and Portuguese wines shown by foreigners. Ask, smile and it is very possible that someone will pull a special bottle from behind the counter especially for you.
The ticket price in 2022 was 10 euros when bought in advance and 15 euros bought later. The price includes a Riedel tasting glass.
